Feel it, feel the fire inside
as it burns away all that
once defined who you are,
feel it turn to ash and ember.
Shiver and shake, shudder
as your skin freezes tight.
A frost has settled; so light,
so easily broken, if only.
If only. If only you knew,
how to break, how to move,
how to be who you were.
So much has been taken.
That burning is gone from you,
and your eyes can see past
the blinding light behind
your tired mind.
But everything is different,
you’ve changed from within.
The fire is died, but new things
have made homes within your veins.
